Clinical Science Graduate Student
I am a third-year Clinical Science PhD student under the mentorship of Dr. Keanan Joyner at the C.R.E.A.M. Lab. I graduated summa cum laude from Arizona State University with a B.S. in Psychology in Fall 2022. Building on my undergraduate research interests in addiction and co-occurring psychopathology, I completed a postbaccalaureate Intramural Research Training Award fellowship at the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism within the National Institutes of Health.
My graduate research examines how individual, interpersonal, and cultural factors shape substance use and mental health in daily life. I am particularly interested in: (1) dynamic and environmental predictors of substance use patterns, including how the availability of and access to alternative sources of reward shape use in daily life; (2) culturally relevant influences on substance use and mental health among racial and ethnic minority populations; and (3) the role of social influence, relationship quality, and social networks as both momentary and stable predictors of substance use. I use intensive longitudinal methods, including ecological momentary assessment (EMA), to examine how these processes unfold over time and vary within and between individuals.
Curriculum Vitae
Current Work
My research interest lies in advancing our understanding of the etiology of alcohol use disorder (AUD) to improve clinical outcomes. I aim to adopt an interdisciplinary approach, incorporating neuroimaging, behavioral self-reports, and ambulatory assessments to explore how biopsychosocial processes influence substance use and comorbid psychopathology. My work primarily targets adolescents and young adults, with the goal of informing more effective diagnostic and intervention strategies.
I am currently working on a project that examines how the domain of ‘amotivation’ relates to substance use outcomes, as well as other factors like sleep, stress, and affect, using data from an ecological momentary assessment.
